Suncoast Clipper Tom Fullarton has been selected for the U17 Australian men's basketball team and will play in the FIBA Oceania U17 Championship.
The team will tip off on 15 August in Silverstream, New Zealand.
This tournament will see Australia face Tahiti, New Caledonia and New Zealand, with the winner of the event qualifying for the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship.
Should they qualify for the gold medal match, they will play it as a curtain-raiser to the FIBA Oceania Championship game between the Boomers and the Tall Blacks on August 18.
"Tom Fullarton will likely be the primary player amongst this group, having already competed at an extremely high level. The 6’5" wing out of Queensland participated in last year’s Adidas Nations Global event and has performed well as a member of the Centre of Excellence squad during SEABL action this year."
Tom, a Suncoast Clippers junior, will also lead the newest association in Queensland, the Sunshine Coast Basketball Association, as a “Sunshine Coast Phoenix” player in the U18 Boys in BQJBC & State Classics season in 2015-16.
This is very exciting news as the Sunshine Coast Basketball Association prepares its teams for its inaugural year in the BQJBC Rep season.
We are all very proud of what Tom has achieved and will support him as he makes his way through junior to senior basketball on the world stage.
